I have followed the Spoony One's Ultima Retrospective and now i want to play some of these games myself. I've got the fourth one and i kind of like it, but it took a long time to learn the commands and getting used to the interface since i've never played a game like this before.

Now i've started to turn my attention to the 7th one. I have to questions. Should i buy it and are any known problems with the on-demand version on gog?
Quirks with the GOG version, not really anything in the game is the same as it was in the version released in the retail Complete Ultima 7 collection.

If you don't like the game running under dosbox you can also run it under Exult.
I bought these due to the retrospective too. Believe me, Ultima 7 is very user friendly in most respects. Most of everything can be controlled with the mouse and the range of movement is very good even given the wonky perspective.

It's definitely worth it i you're willing to invest the time into such a deep RPG. Things may seem uncomfortable at first, but it's all about being acclimated properly. There's a lot more to discover than was put in the review, so make sure to be an explorer! Highly recommend you pick it up.
VII is one of the most rewarding RPG's you can play, and at GOG's price it really is a no-brainer!
Thanks for the input guys. I bought it and i love it.

Glad you enjoy it, if you hadn't give the two worlds of Ultima's a look, sure they use Ultima 6's engine which is quirky but workable, but there worth a look, also Ultima Underworld 1+2 are just epic even though Spoony didn't quite like 2 due to that nasty Headless you can run into at the start.
Downloaded them. They´re great. Thinking if of buying 6.

Loved the story of 6,the ending feels a bit forced but outside of that I thought it was well done.
Plus if you get 6 you also get 5(another one of my favorites in the series) and 4 as well. Just use the Midi music patch for Ultima 5 as it had some really nice music that sadly couldn't be added to the original Dos version fortuently the midi patch adds those tunes to the Dos version.
