Smasha: I have it on wide screen.
Can't make out the writing because it is blurry.
The sound is missing too.
Does it have music through it?
I get sound on the intro and a few sounds here and there but not much else.
There is music sometimes, but not all the time. Try to open player stats (button Z), can you hear sound always?
About the blurry text, it is because the original resolution of the game (320x200). When switched to fullscreen, it will be stretched, and it is not always so good.
You may try to modify game settings :
* In the folder where you installed the game, there is folder ultima7
* in that folder, there is file dosboxULTIMA7.conf
* open file with notepad (or any other editor) and search for following line
scaler=normal2x
* change the scaler to something else, like scaler=advinterp3x
(you could try to play around with different scalers as well)
* save the file and try game again
There is other settings in that file also, which will affect the screen:
aspect=false
- does aspect ratio correction. Try to put this to true (and you might get black areas in both edges of the screen, but the screen is not too stretched)
fullresolution=original
- try to change this for example to 960x600 (this is exactly 3x of the original resolution). You may try your monitor's native resolution here as well.
output=surface
- some scalers doesn't work on surface output mode. Try to change this to ddraw, opengl or overlay. Warning. Some output modes can crash your game!
