Is there any way pass the time quickly in town for free? For example, in Ultima 5 (Apple2 version) I recall being able to rest for a specified # of hours in any bed, until/if the bed's owner kicked you out.

In Ultima 6, every time the sun goes down, to avoid exploring at night, I've been slogging it outside of town to make camp. That takes a lot of time so I am wondering if there is a better option.

Thanks!

Cast Help (KAL LOR), then use the Orb of the Moons to warp back to the town you want to explore.

Help is actually one of the most powerful spells in the game (I think the only spell more powerful is the one that isn't in the manual, and is the one spell you don't want to ever actually cast), and it actually does 3 things:
* Fully restores the party, including revival of dead party members. (Note that the usual XP loss applies to dead characters who are revived.)
* Teleports your party to Lord British's castle (hence why you use the Orb of Moons).
* If cast during the night, will cause time to pass until day time. (This is the effect you're looking for in this case.)

What if you can't cast the spell?
* The spell is found in the very first spellbook you find, in Lord British's castle. (In the SNES version, you *start* with this spellbook, and casting the spell will remove the gargoyles that spawn at the start of the game.)
* Level too low? That would bean your level would be less than 1, which is impossible without hacking.
* Not enough reagents? That can't happen, since Help does not require any. (The only other spell to not require reagents is that unlisted spell I mentioned above.)
Thanks!

I tried casting Kal Lor when it was pitch dark and the sun did advance to daytime, and I was teleported to LB's castle. Is there a way to"warp" back to the town I was in before using the Orb of the Moons? I am just starting out, only level 3, so I cant' cast "Gate Travel" yet.

The Orb of the Moons is what you use to warp back to where you were, and can replace the Gate Travel spell entirely in this game. Essentially, the direction and distance in which you use the orb determines where you teleport to, so setting it 2 up will always take you to the same location (Britain), which is not the same as where you would go if you set it 2 up and 1 right (Shrine of Compassion).

You can find a chart of locations at:
https://ultima.fandom.com/wiki/Orb_of_the_Moons_Locations

(Worth noting that this chart can be found in the SNES version's manual, so it isn't really a spoiler; I haven't checked to see if the PC version has this chart.)
Thanks! I did not see it in the PC version chart. I appreciate the information.
