I am trying to start Ultima 6 again, after a very brief play awhile back. When I create a character, I get an error that a character of that name already exists, and it won't let me start a new game. When I look at the manual included, it says to choose "Reconfigure" from the CD Games menu, but I see no such Reconfigure option (or a CD Games menu).

Does anyone know how I can reset the game so I can start a new character?

Actually you need to run the Install.exe file in your game folder. You can look at your dosboxULTIMA6.conf file for the current program settings (default location should be Hard Drive, C).

After reconfiguring the settings you'll be asked if you want to start a new character (erasing your current one), keep the current character, or just quit without changing anything.

Run the GOG installer again. If you have Ultima IV or V saves you want to keep uncheck those games in the installer options. The save will be replaced so you can start a new game.
