I just want to try it out & downloaded it yesterday, here I found a problem immediately to the point I just want to quit. By pressing Q since it's save and quit (at least that's my understanding), but when I quit & get back in by choosing Journey Onward (I think that's the equivalent of Continue), my char. is reverted back to level 3 & everything I had on me are all gone, all the food & gold, the new items I've found or bought, all gone. Jut back to level 3 and with food & gold back to the amount I had when I started the game and have to talk to Lord British all over again because the monsters doesn't seems to spawn if I didn't.

So, is there something I did wrong? As of now, I don't even want to play anymore just to know I will lost any of my progression the next time I load the game.

Hmm... I remember saving mostly at Castle Britannia or outside of town. Guess I'll give it a go 1 more time.

OK, so I HAVE TO save on the fields outside of towns or else it won't save, thanks.

also make sure you press y for yes after you press q. I've made the mistake of not doing that before lol

I've been playing this and haven't run into any save probs. Do keep an eye on the output. If I press Q while inside I get a "Not Here!" message and it doesn't save. But if I'm outside I just get the number of moves I've made.
So far no save probs using the DOSBox that comes with the GoG installer under Win7 or WinXP.

I only get "Yell what?" right after pressing Q... I guess that makes sense, but most of the time I saved in Castle Britannia or towns, they did showed the moves made, but when I quit, my saves got reverted.
