I can't seem to find one on the forum here, and can't really find a comprehensive guide for 3. There are excellent, excellent, walkthroughs and tip guides, but they assume that I know a lot of the game's mechanics (I had this problem with 2 also, but 2 was kind of not very enjoyable so I ended up fudging the numbers a bit, 3 has been quite enjoyable so far):
-where do I get magic spells, same mechanic as last time, buy a lot, but now with mana?
-what is the maximum level for a character? or at least recommended
-where do I get torches?
-what all is needed before a dungeon crawl? (besides torches)
-HP regenerates now that there is an HP cap right?

I'm liking the game, but feeling like a knucklehead (as usual).

- Magic spells no longer need to be bought, any character with magical ability knows the entire list of spells they have access to. The only limitation as to which ones you can cast is the character's current MP, which are dependent upon wisdom and/or intelligence, depending on the character's class.

- The "effective" level cap is level 25. You'll continue to accumulate experience and gain levels past this, but the only thing level affects is max HP, and that won't increase any further past level 25. However, you cannot be raised past level 5 unless the character in question has been branded with the Mark of Kings, found in dungeons. (The character will be raised to the proper level upon next visit to Lord British once they have the Mark, though, so don't worry about missing out on experience/levels if you hit that 'cap' before finding a mark.)

- Torches are bought in shops run by the Thieves Guild, found in a few (but not all) of the cities.

- Dungeon crawling needs a source of light at the very least, whether that's torches or spells. Ample food is also a good idea, in case you run into gremlins.

- HP does regenerate, but at a very slow pace. Healing spells are going to be your main method of regaining HP.

Thanks! Any tips on where to find a Thieves' guild? I'm still trying to figure out how to cast spells.
