I had just got a notification that Ultima 2 had updated, so I went and checked. Now the game allows you to erase player data before entering the game, neat. However, I have noticed the game had opened in full screen, when I actually had it set to windowed mode.

No big deal, I went closed the game and reconfigured it, and as I was about to start up my save... it crashed; and then it crashed again, and again. NOTE: I did have the EGA graphics patch installed. I came to the conclusion that perhaps it was the patch, so I cleared the files of my game, restoring the original settings, but even after that I could only actually access the game by erasing my player data.
Still no big deal, I had already finished the game, just sucks that I would have to grind all the way to getting the space shuttle again... But; I tried to install the EGA graphics patch, and to my horror, it doesn't work anymore.

Does anyone know if there will be an updated version of the EGA graphics patch for Ultima 2? Or if someone is going to update Ultima patcher so it works on this new update of Ultima 2?

I'm not sure why any GOG version of Ultima updates at all, it's not like the developers still exist.

The correct way to do anything with Ultima 2 is to download the GOG version, apply the patch directly to the game inside dosbox. The only change to the game is that they added a autoexec script to the dosbox conf file so that if you select "delete player" it deletes the content of the PLAYER directory. Remember that this game was made in the 80's, and you played off a "play disk" which was basically just a copy of the game disk.

If you have patched the game, the "player" directory is named differently.
> If you're using the upgrade patch with the GOG version create a directory titled PLAYER.U2 in the cloud_saves directory. This will prevent the game from crashing when you save your game.
This is because "cloud saves" is an overlay mount in dosbox.

I'm not sure why any GOG version of Ultima updates at all, it's not like the developers still exist.
I'd imagine that it's because GOG are updating their handling of the game, whether to add functionality (such as a convenience option to delete player-data), or to maintain compatibility with new systems.
