So after about 10 hours of grinding gold to get to the end of the game, I get to the time of legends and use the coin to negate time. I fight my way through all the enemies who were unaffected only to find there is an invincible monster blocking the only path to the castle, since he is frozen I cannot get him to move. I go back and get the plane, i manage to land inside the castle area. I fight all the monsters there as well until only invincible monsters are left. Problem is, there is a monster frozen on the squares north, south, east and west of the castle. If I can move diagonally or pass through the monsters I can finally beat this but I cant find anyway to do so.

Is there a way to unfreeze time so I can get the monsters to move? Or anything I can do here... maybe something I have missed.

Time should unfreeze on its own after enough turns have passed.

This final page of an online walkthrough should give you some tips and tricks for getting past the invincible monsters. Obviously, it's a SPOILER ALERT for anyone who hasn't yet gotten that far.

EDIT: Rassem frassem forum with its broken links. Just copypasta the URL; it'll work fine.

Well that's pretty odd. It almost sounds like the MONX00 and MAPX00 files got out of sync. The map file keeps track of the whole map including the visibility of each monster, while the mon file keeps track of its health. I think BOTH have location information (which is how they corellate the data between the two) and if the two disagree you get these unkillable non-interactable monsters.

I'd get your plane to a different time and save there, copy in a fresh MONX00 and MAPX00 from a clean install, which will reset your legends map, then reload and retry. It means you'll have to slog through the mountain of monsters again, but you shouldn't have any invincible ones.

I'm pretty sure that the unkillable monster in Minax's castle is intentional. It adds complication to an otherwise simple task, and happens in both the C64 and PC versions in my experience.
I seem to recall a comment somewhere on rgcud or rgcus about there being one indestructable monster in every map, but after a few decades I'm not sure how accurate my brain is on the subject.

It sounded like the unkillable monsters were on the legends map and preventing him from getting to Minax's castle. At least, that's the way it read to me.

But you're right that there is an unkillable monster once you get inside.
