I mentioned before an idea of Zelda 1 in the Ultima 1 engine. That was a stupid idea. What isn't so much is instead maybe having a remake of Ultima 1-3 done in the style (perhaps a reworked engine) of Zelda 1 for Famicom Floppy?

And specifically based on the Famicom Floppy Disk one because the cartridge versions suck.

It would basically be the same Ultima game but without the clunky movements and turn-based combat elements we all hated, which could also mean better attempts at adding depth to the overworld map other than the limitations of the old DOS and Apple BASIC ones.

The dungeons should still be at least Pathways into Darkness style 2.5D in honour of the old Ultima's first person dungeons, and we could also see how the weapons would work.

I don't know how the space flight sections could be handled however. What would the music be also?

The Ultima 4 one could used a similarly modernised version of the Link to the Past engine on Super Famicom (specifically that version of the console) with similar 2.5D updates to dungeons and such.

If anyone does decide to do this, don't let any of those totalitarian pricks at Nintendo and/or EA get at you if they try to pull a Metroid 2 Remake on you.

Why do I say this? Because Nintendo are Nintendo and Nintendo are the Worst. Or one of them as the case may be:

Personally, I loved the movement and turn-based combat elements of the original Ultimas. Not having to wait for an animation to walk makes movement much faster than in, say, Dragon Quest. Also, I much prefer turn-based combat to the mess that was Ultima 7's combat, or to Baldur's Gate combat, for that matter.

I would argue that, with this drastic a change, it would no longer be basically the same game.
