I decided to finally start playing the Ultima series starting with the first. Never played it before. Not bad at all considering how old it is. Anyway I got a couple quest and read up some strategy and decided to start killing in the closest dungeon after getting a couple quest. I'm just jumping in and out of the dungeon to earn XP and money. Saw this bear coming and was like whatever. But now, I'm running low on food, there is a knight to my side now. And It keeps saying I missed my hits over and over again and I can't get out of this situation! Should I just die? is there an attack problem happening here? Got mace and chain-mail on. Fighter dwarf.

I'm wondering if you have the same problem some other people seem to have. On the world map you can't just press a, you also have to press an arrow key after that for which direction you want to attack. In the dungeons you are in first person mode and this isn't an issue but on the map it has no idea which direction you want to attack if you don't tell it.

Thanks for the response. I indeed didn't know that I had to hit a direction after hitting A. Now it all works fine. Not use to playing games this old.
