Okay, everyone helped me out for U4 to U5, so I hope I can get help to transfer my character from U5 to U6. Does anyone know have to do it before I drave myself crazy?

I did it, but I can't remember how. Maybe if you can run the game using the command prompt? I don't think moving the file to the U6 folder works. I'd play around with it, but I don't want to risk screwing up my save. I'm just going to tell you I know it can be done.
iirc, you have to add the location of your save.gam to dosbox as the a drive. So in your dosbox config at the bottom with the [autoexec] lines where it says mount c ... add:

mount a path to ultima 5's SAVE.GAM

Then in Ultima 6 go to transfer a character, and for drive choose a.

The harder part is if windows puts your save game in one of those silly magic folders because it won't let you write to program files. Normally SAVE.GAM is in the Ultima 5 program folder. If it does this you should copy it to another real location on your drive so Ultima 6 can access it.

You don't need to interact with VirtualStore directly since redirection is invisible; simply point the mount to the game's normal Program Files location and DOSBox can see the files in VirtualStore.

Good to note. I thought I saw people complaining about it before, and figured I was better being safe about my instructions. I'm not using Windows myself.

lawfoster: Is this working for you?
I have not had a chance to try it-lost power for 9 days. I will give it a shot later.
Since the dosbox launcher shortcut starts at your Ultima 6 directory by default, you can just use:

mount A "..\ULTIMA5"

This should work regardless of your install directory, as long as you've not moved the sub-folders around.
