I've played another version of Black Gate using DOSBox, and it was very good. However, when I went to Minoc to investigate the murders, the bodies disappear and it felt like I was missing something, even though I completed the game just fine. I now am thinking of buying the U7 pack here, but wondered if that bug (and any others anyone can think of) was fixed. Yeah, I am kind of anal.

Thanks.
I had this problem too -the corpses flickered on the screen for just a second and were gone. I wonder, does anything else go missing, like important items?

pachubatinath,

The only thing that I read about that was missing was a Serpentine dagger and a Fellowship candelabra. The candelabra will be listed as a conversation topic later when you talk to the Minoc Fellowship hag, but the missing dagger won't come up as a conversation option for later when you talk to that a-hole De Snel in Jhelom (if you ask him about it, he supposedly attacks you). No matter, you can just kill him anyway. haha
Thanks, man -good to know as I'm playing through now.

Are the items 'gone' or just invisible? I was able to briefly see the corpses in Minoc, so they were there.

It's a known bug, the disappearing murder scene. By chance did you fly over or near it with the magic carpet? From my experience that's been the trigger. By the time I get back the scene is cleaned up and everyone is back to their normal places...
pachubatinath,

The corpses (and items) are just gone, even though for that split second, I saw them as you did.

grogerson,
I've tried approaching Minoc a multitude of ways, including avoiding using the carpet. Still the bodies disappear.

Oh well, like I said, the game is still winnable. I'm just anal.

Yeah the Magic Carpet can cause a few bugs it can also trigger a certain door in the Isle of the Avatar that you need to pass through to get the the end part of the game to close permanently if you fly over the isle of the avatar on the carpet.
I had this problem too. I reloaded a previous saved game made it outside the sawmill and saved. After I went in and noticed the corpses were not there I reloaded and went back in and they were there. Not sure if that helps anyone else but good luck.
IIRC, if you obtain any other serpent dagger it will trigger the conversation topic as though it was the one from the murder scene (assuming you've been to the murder scene location, of course).
Just to weigh in (probably too late to be useful), this is quite a well known bug that most people would encounter. Most of the solutions seem to have been suggested before but in summary:

reload before you went to Minoc.
Don't fly over the place with the carpet.
Try walking to minoc
Try either not talking to anyone outside first or making sure that you do! (I can't remember which).
