Ok, so my problem might be unique but since I am using linux, DosBox is a bit of a hassle, in addition to this, I cannot for the life of me find the .exe that runs Ultima underworld 2. This makes it infinitely more difficult to run the game as that is a common work around. As for DosBox, my system installed version of DosBox works fine, but some copies that are put directly into the game directory like with the Ultima series don't want to play nice and have a problem with mounting and finding files, not that it would work anyway because i can't seem to find the direct .exe!

So, my question is, what are the other linux nerds doing to fix this? Minigalxy isn't playing nice either.

the GOG installation of the game contains a file "game.gog" which is an ISO CD image. it includes all of the files from the Ultima Underworld CD, including the exe. the GOG DOSBox config mounts that file as a virtual CD drive and then runs the executable from that mounted drive.
