I have been trying to adjust the settings to achieve maximum fidelity but alas, so far I have been unable to find out as to how to do that.

"nglide_config.exe" allows me to increase the resolution which I have set to 1920x1080. This works just fine. However, there is no other way to configure other settings.

"ConfigINI.exe" doesn't seem to do anything, "FinalSetup.exe" allows me to make changes to the settings but never saves any changes made (I think I cannot even set the rendering mode to Direct3D as I always get the 3dfx splash screen on launching the game).

How do I go on about this?

Sounds like you need the third party extended setup tool: http://ultima9.ultimacodex.com/the-ultima-9-extended-setup-utility/

Thanks so much, had no idea this existed! Tried it and now I can finally run the game just as I want.

I'm confused by this post. I too have tried the extended setup tool, and when choosing D3D it doesn't work. Game has errors upon loading. Then trying Glide version I can select resolutions like 1920x1080p but the visuals are stretched. Are people just OK with the visuals being stretched or are they playing this simply in 4:3 aspect square on their widescreen monitor?
If you managed to get the game working with correct aspect in 1080p widescreen, please let me know how you did it.
