DCT: Totally slipped my mind, but April 16th was Ultima 7's 20th anniversary . Man to think it's been 20 years since Ultima 7: the black gate was released on April 16, 1992 .

It's amazing(and kinda sad when you think about it) that in 20 years few RPGs have come close to matching what Richard Garriott and Origin managed to do with that game.

oldschool: Cool thing: I didn't know that, Bad thing: I have yet to even play it, I only played U3, U4, never finished U5 and of course U9. All that i remember is when it first came out there were horror stories about just getting it to run properly (Dos, i believe). I need to play this classic when i can free up enough time.

LotusGramarye: You really should play it. It's the best Ultima, perhaps tied with V. And if you do purchase it, the best way to play it is with Exult (just do a google search), as it adds neat stuff like hotkeys and you can play it with better music.

i remember longing over the empty display box at my local store.

when it finally came out, it had the highest min requirements of any game, by far.

it required a 386! and whats more: RAM! omg, i had to buy RAM to play this game! (first game/program i ever needed RAM for!)

talking my mom into dropping two bills on RAM was a tough one!

this game was a nightmare for me to play! i think it actually took me about a year to get it running! i remember finally getting to play it after the release of the xpac.
