Hello. Ultima has always been the major franchise I never got into, first trying with Ultima IX and then never desiring to go back to the other games after sinking several failed hours into that. At the behest of some others, I've decided to give the series another try, starting with Ultima 3. It was recommended that I use the Exodus Project (gog won't let me link to it) to improve the graphics, but it does not seem designed to be used with gog version. I read the readme, but only being familiar with DOSBox through gog's releases, it doesn't make much sense to me. Can this patch be used with the GOG version, and if so, how?

Yes, it can be used with the GOG release. Your best bet is to use Pix's Ultima patcher to install the thing if you aren't familiar with DOS.

PS The reason you can't post links at this time has to do with the current spam filter settings. Until you reach a high enough reputation links (and a few other things) are seen as spam and then your post gets deleted. They're working on a better solution I believe though.
Thanks a lot! This looks like it'll do it. It's a bit silly I can't post links despite being a member for like 5 years. I do see why there needs to be a system in place to keep the quality of the site though.

As a side note, any (non spoiler) hints for a new Ultima player as I move through Exodus on?

Your main concern will be food. Your party easts all the time and each member needs their own food. This means you will need a lot of money, especially at the beginnng. You could wander around the overworld but monster spawn so rarely you will be starving all the time. The easiest way to earn money is to go to the town west of castle British, surrounded by mountains and kill everyone. THere are no consequences, there are no guards around and when you exit an re-enter the town the population respawns again. It is technically possible to survive without mass homocide, but it's really hard. Also, don't put any intelligence or wisdom into characters who don't need it. Ther are no addition benefits aside from spellcasting power, no extra resistance or saving throws.
