For me, Ultima 7 is still the best RPG to date, and naturally I already have numerous physical copies. Now I've seen that the GOG version comes with 29 design documents. I don't need yet another copy of the game (and I prefer playing it in Exult anyway), but I wonder if the design docs alone are worth the purchase?

What kind of information do they contain?

Anything new, interesting and worthwhile, or nothing that isn't available publicly elsewhere, in the form of interviews with LB or reviews/retrospectives?

It's a bunch of notes, ranging from city plots to programming functions to QA documentation (including coffee stains). Looks like someone grabbed sheets of paper from Origin, scanned them and converted them into pdf files.

I have no idea whether someone might be interested in that or whether you could find that someplace else, too.

I see. Nothing really outstanding or really comprehensive then. Guess I'll pass in that case, and hope that Jimmy Maher [1] will eventually reach 1991.

Thanks for the info!

You can also get the design docs for free from the Ultima Codex. They're just included here as an extra, not actually part of the purchase price.

EDIT (2016-02-07)::
Thought a link might be helpful. The docs can be found here.
