At the bridge on the way to Paws. A troll there. The cut scene starts but hangs and never finishes. I need to get to paws to talk to the mayor. Any fixes or ways around this?

It sounds like you are talking about Ultima 9. The troll is not plot-important, but you need something inside his cave for one of the quests. I'd recommend you use the "fly mode" (cheat) to bypass the cut-scene trigger, grab the item out of the cave and continue on to Paws.
