IIRC, by using the setup file for the game, I was able to change the sound card and get better music than midi music. Since the GOG version has its own unique filesetup, I can't do that. I assume I can do so manually by editing the dosbox conf file. How would I go about doing this?

You can change sound card to be used by editing the UW.CFG file located in the UNDEROM1/DATA folder.

"4 -1 -1 -1 sound" is Soundblaster
"6 -1 -1 -1 sound" is Roland

By default the GOG version of UU uses the Roland sound card, but that means you get piano sound when walking, unless you actually have a real Roland or use a working emulator.
