Hi
I have the problem that my UFO Aftershock is windowboxed on my display only utilizing the center part of my screen (which has a native res of 1920x1080). I have my Catalyst Control Center set to scale to full screen keeping the aspect ratio (meaning this game ought to be pillarboxed being a 4:3 game on a 16:9 screen). It's only this game that reacts this way. Aftermath used to do it too but that game seem to be behaving better. And Afterlight can be made to work in 1920x1080 so no need for stretching anything there. Anyone who has an idea?

No problem with mine. I have an ATI Radeon HD4770, using Catalyst 10.5, Aftershock 1.3, WinXP Pro32b
In the Control Center /Digital Panel /Attributes, you must tick "Enable GPU scaling" and "Maintain aspect ratio".
I didn't try Catalyst 10.6. Maybe it's again 'too new' and you must revert to 10.5??
Or maybe add "fullscreen=TRUE" as option in the AS shortcut.

It is fullscreen. The problem is that instead of utilizing my entire screen it only uses the center of it. But I can't for example move my mouse beyond the 1024x768 that the game takes up. And I do have the GPU set up for scaling while maintaining aspect ratio. It's just that it doesn't seem to be working for this specific game. By the way it behaves the same way in Independence War if I run the GOG-files. But if I run the actual game files it's displaying correctly.

You should write on the devs forum, sending them a DXdiag:

I think you broke something or you don't have the good hardware, as you seem the only one with this problem.
I found a solution to the problem through basic trial and error of my own... In the options.txt file in the UFO Aftershock\profiles\user library there is an option called video mode. I basically just tried a lot of diferent values. And when I set it to 50 it seems to work.
I just encountered this, running a gtx460.

I had the Nvidia CP set to scale to aspect ratio, but there's also a checkbox to overwrite behaviour of the game. Never needed to check this before, but doing it now fixed this issue.
UFO Aftershock HD Reslutions

Guys. This was driving me nuts since all the widescreen mods cause issues of some sort. Most notably, the oversized soldiers in the squad screen. I just registered here to post, since this page was scoring high in Google when ever I searched UFO Aftershock resolution.

Further up the page, KajQrd suggested setting video mode to 50. This didn't work on my 1920x1080 screen. For me correct setting was 14 (That's 14 without the -). This scaled whilst keeping correct aspect. Hope this post helps someone out.
where is this file that needs to be adjusted and how do you open it??
