This game was fun overall, best points were the VAST array of weaponry and armor. There was no one set of weapons/armor that were the best for all things. Different combinations were needed for different missions/alien types/territories - I enjoyed that very much. Also a great number of different aliens, and their weapons changed as you got further in the game. I am disappointed by others reviewing the game saying "It's no XCOM!" because it was never advertised to be - these were not remakes/retoolings of XCOM: UFO DEFENSE.
I rate it a 4 out of 5 because there was no "Holy crap! Awesome" type of elements such as mini games, or the ability to outfit your aircraft - things like that. Also only having ONE team to investigate UFOs when in the end I had over 60 bases was strange, and also the Chinook helicopter that you use to carry your troops never gets updated to a faster craft. These were in no way requirements, however.
A lot of detail was placed into the actual battlefield simulation. The territories were very diverse, and line of sight (along with the troops' observation skill) and elevation/obstacles was a HUGE factor. Weapon abilities, range, and your troops attributes were awesome. Very SWAT2 like (although modernized a bit).
Overall - I recommend this game to someone who doesn't need a lot of flashy superficial elements, but likes a good battlefield tactical strategy without the need for base micromanagement.
