I bought Afterlight now as part of the promo and tried to run it. The problem is I get treated to nothing but a black screen instead of the intro followed by a brown screen instead of the menu. Audio is still running fine in the background.
I've seen a lot of people having trouble running it on Intel chipsets, but only one guy over on the Steam forums launching it without visuals like me.

I've tried running it both as an admin and in compatibility mode for XP SP2 and 3 and Vista SP2, with the exact same results.

I'm running Win7 64-bit on a HP Pavilion dv7, with a switchable graphics setup (between a Intel HD integrated and a proper Radeon). Naturally I set it to run on the Radeon card thinking it'd be fine. Sadly that doesn't seem to be the case.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I also had problems trying to get it to run on my laptop with an Intel graphics chip. I got the opoening cinematic, and even got to the opening menu screen, but when trying to start a new game, I get a fatal error involving something like "unable to resolve pixel generation/resolution" or something to that effect :( Disappointing...haven't tried it on my gaming computer yet, which it will probably work fine on, but was hoping to get it running on my laptop...seems like that ain't gonna happen..

Ahh, just found this, looks like this is my problem, and possibly yours as well..maybe : http://www.gog.com/forum/ufo_series/afterlight_choosepixel_line_failure/post3
