Hi,
I'm new here, but, I wanted to share this information with all of you. I figured out a way to play Ufo:Aftermath on a Netbook.
Acer Aspire One D250
1GB Ram, 250GB HD, Atom N280, Intel GMA 950 graphics (1024x600 res), Win 7 starter...
The first thing you need is a program called KDE Mover resizer:
http://corz.org/windows/software/accessories/KDE-resizing-moving-for-XP-or-Vista.php
This works (on Windows) like the kde plug in on linux, allowing you to move a window using an ALT-left click.
Now you need to set UFO:AM to windowed mode using: --option fullscreen=FALSE
Full instructions are in this thread:
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/ufo_series/how_to_run_ufo_as_in_windowed_mode
Now, when you run the game, it will come up in a 1024x768 window. To see the bottom of the window, just ALT-Left click in the window and move it upwards, after you're done move it back down.
I know that this is a bit of a pain, but, it's the price you pay for using a netbook. Hope this helps someone.
