Playing the U4 campaign, Oktober '39 with game version 2024.1, preview 24.

The U4 has not a huge range so I ran low on fuel quite fast. No supply vessel in range so I am told to re-supply in a harbor.
But how to dock?! I tried the port of Bergen as well as the port of Westerland without success...
No idea how to dock properly and get fuel for the boat.

Any suggestions welcome!

By Westerland, do you mean Wilhelmshaven? There should be no issue docking there, just right click on the port icon should set a course to the point where you'll actually dock. Next, for Bergen - the port needs to be friendly. Bergen won't be friendly until mid '40, so you can't do anything there before then.


Also, while the type 2 boats have limited range to begin with (especially the 2a), there's some stuff you can do to reduce fuel consumption - first, cruise at speed 2 (~8 knots in a type 2, 10 in a type 7)). Going faster will sharply increase fuel consumption. I haven't done much with the type 2 boats, but for a type 7, speed 5 is iirc 7 times the fuel consumption of speed 2.

After that, there's crew tasks that can reduce consumption - assigning crew to an engineer who is monitoring the engines will reduce consumption. Next, a watchman with crew on the navigation task also reduces consumption. These officer tasks reduce both diesel and electric consumption, although by less for electrics. Adjust officer job priorities and active hours so you always have an officer on these jobs (i prefer 6 hour shifts, staggered so that an officer is always on a job)
