Hi

When I play this game the ship is always in the far right hand corner of the screen, and I have to really force the mouse hard to the left to get the ship to move only a little bit. When I do get the ship off the bottom right it flings itself back there immediately. It's therefore unplayable. Does anyone know of any settings i may need to change to fix this?

Thanks

Hm... that sounds like a joystick calibration issue. Do you have one attached to your system?

I had this issue as well - and after calibration, I was able to play.

I did have to go back and reset all the options that had been due to the machine thinking the joystick was set to 'go left' - it went and changed several on the way to the 'calibration' option.

But yes, this solved it for me. I didn't think I'd need to do that as my joystick is a joyPAD, no hat switches or analog controls, but the game apparently assumed it did (:
Hi guys - i'm not sure what the original issue was but next time i played the game the controls were fine. I was only using a mouse before so i must have pressed something at some stage that buggered up the control config.

Thanks again.
I have this problem; calibration didn't fix it, although I may not have been doing it right - The instructions seemed incomplete.
I also had this problem, and I didn't have a joystick or gamepad connected to my computer. However, I have a Saitek Eclipse keyboard and that registers as a "game controller" in Windows called USB Gaming Keyboard Pro.

Well anyways, to fix the problem in Tyrian 2000 edit the Dosbox configuration file in its directory, for me (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) the directory is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Tyrian 2000, open the file dosboxT2K.conf in notepad.

Go to edit, then find, type joysticktype you will then find a line called joysticktype=auto change it to joysticktype=none then file and save and then you may play the game without your ship or whatever else moving uncontrollably. Hope this helps anyone that didn't know :).

How do you open the file in notepad? The "open with" option doesn't show up.
Just click OPEN and then choose from a list of programs, not look online for a program. Notepad is the only one that shows up for me, but if others do just pick notepad or notepad++ if you have it.

Problem for me is I don't have any joystick options in my config file, so should I add one? Or do I have to fight with the always pulling right menus to try and set it up in-game to create it?

I had the same problem. I added this and got it working:

[joystick]
joysticktype=none
Well I was able to play with the keyboard by just unplugging the controller before starting, but I'd like to actually use the controller. Seems I may be out of luck in that wish, as most fixes tend to involve disabling the controller one way or another. At least I can play without fighting the navigation though.
For those who want to play with a controller, try this instead:

[joystick]
timed=false

I have no idea what the setting is actually supposed to do, but it makes the joystick control work properly for me.
I have the same issue. Ship always drifting to the right. In menus Music and Sound increase on their own. Oddly I have this problem in Windows 7 but not in Windows XP. Also when I set up my original, CD copy in DOSBox it works fine in Windows 7.

Thank you, this solved the mouse issue :)
