So as the title asks, I'm curious if the story based DLC's are worth purchasing for Tyranny. Assume that I love Obsidian, and also assume that I do not mind spending a little cash to support them, as long as each DLC is not the same as the portrait pack.

I'm really interested in whether the small file size for Tales is misleading and if it does in fact add a lot of flavor text. I guess I want to know if the game is more complete with the story DLC's.
As a big fan of both Tyranny and Obsidian i would say only Bastards Wound is actually worth the asking price, and even that is arguable, since the bulk of it is yet another slog through an old wall labyrinth.
Tales is really just something one would expect from a free update.
That said, i bought both and do not regret it.

- Bastard's Wound is a buggy mess that offers nothing more interesting than you can find in the original campaign. The dungeon is tedious and the quests are infuriating since all those NPCs want is the Fatebinder to do petty tasks for them. The only thing worthwhile are the party member quests, but the DLC is far too expensive for that.

- Tales from the Tiers is actually quite cool, but get it during a promo as it's not worth more than a few dollars. It adds some flavour text along with opportunities to earn some minor artifacts/skills while travelling from one place to another.

All in all, both DLCs are a bitter dissapointment, moreso since the content looks like it should have been in the game at release.

I waited for over a year after this game was released to finally play and finish it. I have to say, that I did enjoy it. The progression of the party was interesting, as was the progression of the story, it felt very immersive to me. However I am most disapointed by the DLC. I can't find anyone, anywhere that raves about them.

It is too bad, because the White March DLCs for Pillars was pretty good(not amazing) but certainly good enough to warrant grabbing them and continuing the main game adventure, but this.... this is sad.
I thought Bastard's Wound was lengthy and worth the money, though it did annoy me in one respect. You pretty much have to play as a renegade from the empire to do anything in the DLC. Avoiding spoilers, that's the best summary I can give. I was roleplaying a very loyal servant of the emperor so even going along with the town's existence felt forced.

The other DLC was worth the sale price I paid, like $2 I believe. Adds some lore stuff to the traveling mechanic, which did add immersion.

To be fair, there is one option immediately upon entering the ruins that is in line with Kyros' policy. But I felt like choosing it would end the DLC much too prematurely. Maybe it does allow you to explore all the areas fully.

I just assumed that would quickly end the questline, and when I looked it up later I'm pretty sure the wiki said I was right. You might still be able to explore the whole area though, without quests.

I was also annoyed by not having much choice in dealing with the town when roleplaying a loyal character, it actually affected how I handled the rest of my playthrough. I had to laugh in the final epilogue, when my choices ended up killing the whole town anyway.

Other than that though, I thought Bastard's Wound was enjoyable and worth the money. It is a bit buggy if you leave some of the content until Act 3. Barik's and Lantry's quests both bugged and I was unable to complete them.

Yeah, it was a nice Obsidian style twist to have the apparent best path for the town end up with the worst outcome. I just wish there was a more Kyros-loyal path.
