Just wonder, do you need to make any accounts somewhere to play this game or is it just install'n'play? Just read a forum that mention getting your account in to trouble if you used mods in multiplayer, so I wonder if you need to even set up an account somewhere to play in singleplayer.

You don't need an account for singleplayer. You only need to install the game and play.

An account is only needed if you want to play the multiplayer. This account must be created with the key provided with the game. If you use multiplayer mods the server may think that you are using a hack. So you can get trouble by using some multiplayer mods. But that doesn't effect the singleplayer.
