Okay, I made sure to read through all the posts about this issue first and the answers do not work for me.
ISSUE: I start up TW1, get a brief view of the title screen, then it crashes back to Windows with only the generic message that the game has crashed (no specifics on why).
I have Win 8, Intel HD Graphics card 4400.
When I first installed the game, it went to the part where it said it had to uninstall my Agaia Physx thing in order to finish the install, which I did because I thought it necessary to play the game. Then after the aformentioned issue I scanned all related threads here and found that some people just cancelled that part and it worked anyway. There was another that said to download the Physx Legacy thing which I also did. I also re-downloaded and installed the version that the first game install uninstalled. I re-booted my comp, uninstalled and re-installed the game several times, I always have the same issue. The worst part about this is that in some of the threads I found with this exact issue, the thread starter eventually says he got it working but not how, and its the last post in the thread. Very frustrating when I see that.
I have the game set up to start as admin in an older compat mode (I switch thsee around trying to make it work, as I'm not sure which is best to use - but its obviously not Win 8).
I have also tried the RADEON executable in the game's folder. Same issue except the brief title screen is half screened instead of full with the regular executable.
It is also frustrating not seeing a sticky on this as I am not alone in having this issue. Or a patch to fix it.
I don't know what else to do. I have given up on trying and started TW2 without a hitch, and using the "worldsmerge" mod which is awesome. I just started it and have not even left the tutorial dungeon , but I can already tell the events of TW1 are very related to the intro story of TW2 - so if anyone can help me get it working I would be forever grateful ;)
Thanks in advance to anyone helping with this, though I have strong doubts of there being a solution for me.
