This is a question rather than a problem - I hope!

Am I right in thinking that some of the quests cannot be begun or completed before you've reached a certain point in the game?

I've got 2 quests at the moment which I cannot do. For one of them, the cave I've been directed to remains locked; for the second I'm told we'll meet in the sewers, but no-one is there, nor is there a red cross to guide me to the correct spot. I've tried the 2 sewer systems currently available to me.

I'm level 20 something. I've collected 2 of the stones requested by the Orc smith and I've a location flag on the map for the third.

Hi there Flynn, thanks for replying.

Re-reading the quest info I think I've missed a step on one of them, but the one where the door in the cave remains locked is:

Chapter 1: Steps to the Tower - Gorlag's Curse

I am wondering if there is more than one Gorlag's Curse cave and if I've just not found the right one to start with.

Hi, Polly77.

Search around the area. There may be another entrance. If not, try reloading a previous save (if you have one) and trigger the quest again.

I'm not near that part of the main quest at the moment (still on Alsorna), but given how often I'm playing this, I may be close to the quest soon.

toccatta on the TopWare forums has this to say about Gorlag's Curse (post #4) --

When you reach the first locked door, are you in a large cavern with a raised platform in it or are you in a narrow passage?

If you're in a narrow passage, you used the wrong entrance to Gorlag's cave. There are two. The entrance you need to use in north of the southern gate. If Gorlag's quest is your active quest, your map-marker should point to the correct entrance.

But if you're in a large room with a platform, the door is locked by a large switch. Climb onto the platform and look for the switch to open the door.

Thank you Flynn, that was very helpful and I was indeed at the exit rather than the entrance to Gorlag's cave.

I also looked at how to highlight the quest. It wasn't rocket science, but I'd not been bothering to use it. Quite how I've managed to get to level 22 without using it I don't really know! Guess I like a challenge lol
