I dispise this game and I think it's a scar on GOG's face. I was watching some reviews on YouTube and found this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogZS6z_EIzs

The guy's pretty funny. He's also right, the game sucks!
Poor review. Basically says:

Here's a game I cheated on, I found it unfulfilling.

The plot's crap (which it is), so I will spend 50% of the review looking at it. Even though it takes about 1% of the time in the game.

I found the learning curve steep, so rather than try to find a bit more out about the game, possibly try going other places first, I cheated.

this review is lazy, there is more to the game than he suggests.
Also he's playing the Xbox 360 version, which is much buggier and still has unfinished content compared to the version available from GOG. The "Epic Edition" available here has a version number of 1.7 due to massive patching and content expansions which makes the game perfectly stable and more fun than when it was originally released.

I didn't find the game to be a classic, but it was definitely fun. It did get boring when I ran out of loot to find though.

I really liked TW1 on both PC and Xbox, even though the xbox 360 version was often like a series of still frames on screen, the game managed to still have its innate cheesey charm.

Completed it once when it first came out on PC, then once when it came out on Xbox, then again when it went up for sale on GOG. A fine game, with a more interesting weapon improvement mechanic than TW2 had, although in many ways TW2 was the superior title.
Still haven't completed Two Worlds, but it definately is a lot different than I initially expected.
When he got to the gripes about combat though I was kinda thinking "That's not quite true, has he been playing Morrowind cause much of what he's been saying feels like it belongs just as well in Morrowind, the combat requires maneuvering to not die constantly"
I bought this game 2 days ago, It's fun.
I have to be honest though, I can't call myself a gamer anymore cause I have been disinterested in a lot of games for a few years now.

Recently I discovered I like RPG type of games (mostly cause of the looting and finding cool stuff, really addicting gameplay type).
I never realized I liked RPG type games cause the setting is almost always fantasy and hardly ever sci-fi.

For some reason reading negative comments made me less excited about playing the game, so I tried to stop reading about the game and just play it.

Since its a fantasy game (and I kind of hate/dislike fantasy), its more about the gameplay for me, can't care less about the story.
When I first started playing the game I noticed how bad the voice acting was, it sounds like every line is being read without the voice actor knowing about the context.
The story sucks, there is nothing interesting.
But I love exploring, finding items, making potions, stealing, gaining skill points.
I love open world games, but the only open world game I can think of with an open world, rpg elements and stealing is Fallout.
This comes close.

I know about oblivion but I never could get into it, It might be cause I was modding it too much, but then again I modded fallout as well.

Guess I want to say is, stop being so negative about the game, it makes me feel bad for buying it, even though I enjoyed the gameplay I've currently had with it.

Edit: played some more, think I don't like it that much, the whole map is the same, trees, mountains etc. been walking around for hours without finding anything cool like a cave or something, the only fun I'm having is finding villages and rob the people blind.

That's strange, I've found many different places and amazing landscapes. Actually, I think the world in TW1 is much more diverse than Oblivion one. And much more beautifull :)

Yeah, the starting area is a lot of trees and mountains but once you cross the river you'll find lots of other landscapes, including bamboo forests, deserts, spooky swamps, volcanic areas... it is indeed more varied than Oblivion, you just have to play for a bit before you find the other areas.

Also there should be plenty of caves and other dungeons scattering around even in the northern part of the map. Spend a little time looking and you'll find them.
Is the ending the same in the epic version that gog has, I own the game, but never got around to beating it. After seeing the ending in that review, all I have to say is that it looks like a big letdown.

Yeah the ending is a bit lame, but to be honest the whole main plot is fairly lame. The fun parts of the game are exploration, combat and loot, not plot.

I actually ran out of loot to find towards the end of the game which made it much less interesting. Fortunately I was able to make a bee-line for the final encounter at that point.
Thanks for the reply, well hopefully the gear finding is good enough to keep me interested the next time I pick this game up.
