IIRC the original version has MP but has it been stripped from GOG.com version?

The option is there but there is no CD key included as far as I know... so... probably not. :(

Submit a support ticket requesting a key, They'll get back to you shortly, and everything should be fine.
At least that's how it's gone in the past.
well, I have got my serial key from the support, but there's one little problem.. I have no clue what to do with it ^_^ there's no options in the game to change the key. any ideas? thanks
done - just empy the SerialKey entry through the regedit.exe in the software / realitypump / twoworlds directory. next you try multiplayer, you'll be asked to type in the new serial key and activate the game
I think this solves the thread

I didn't have to empty anything to access multiplayer mode. Just hit the Multiplayer Button in the main menu and enter the key you got from the support there. Worked fine for me.
So whose support should I contact to get a key if I buy this game?
In the support section on this site you can write a ticket to GOG-support to request your key. You SHOULD receive it in less than 24 hours (on working days) but some people had some problems and waited longer. I for my part never had problems with getting keys, so just try it out.
All in all i'm 99% sure that everyone gets his key sooner or later, so do not worry. ;)
EDIT: Also have a look at my post here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/two_worlds/gog_guild/perm=12/#p_b_12

Hmmm, how long does it take them to send the key? I purchased this game couple a days ago and requested the key but haven't received it yet.
Why the heck can't they add an key to your account page automatically?

GOG are in fact working on a way of automating key requests. No idea when it'll be ready though.
well its been a day now since my request for a key to enter multiplayer..........and still waiting........i guess its the slow time of the year.
