Is it possible to have local (ie:LAN) coop in this?

So far all I can see is that my party and I can join a server (in Europe so the pings are atrocious) and play online with up to 50 people on a session on said server.

We're not too keen on playing with random people we don't know, or having to send our data to Europe and back just to send it the ~5 feet between our PCs that are located in the same room.

If it isn't, well we're only out a few bucks but it'd be nice it it were possible.

No looks like you have to join the EU servers. This is why I bought the game as well. It a crime to not have LAN in games anymore!
The connection for me is fine on the Europe servers. Might be another issue involved, as I noticed "lag" once when my friend I was playing with was doing other stuff on their computer. So, hmmm, not too sure. I'm not technical when it comes to that, though I'm not too sure the servers are totally at fault when it comes to "lag" with my experience. I wonder if it becomes a direct connection once you connect, but I'm not a technical girl, so I don't know.

You don't play with random people. What you do, is you start your own game from within the game world where others can meet, and then from there you start your own game. You can set a password, so you don't need people you don't know joining. It's like it's own "matchmaking" system for people to meet and play together, but that doesn't mean you have to play with strangers if you don't want to.

Yeah, not many seem to include the LAN anymore.
