I bought Two Worlds last week, having played it ages ago and now wanting the expansions with it, but it is more or less unplayable. Every single character in the game frame-skips, from the player to the monsters to the NPCs. All their movements are jerky and it's so annoying that the game is more or less unplayable. The rest of the game runs perfectly, it's just the characters that clearly miss some of their animation frames. Anybody else have this issue? All those years back when I played it, it ran fine, but I've got an entirely different PC now. My specs are as follows:

2.9ghz Intel dual core cpu
3gb RAM
Sapphire Radeon HD6870
Windows 7 32 bit

Clearly this game should run absolutely fine, but everything I've tried doesn't work. Put it in XP compatibility mode, installed it in a directory that isn't the default, not in program files either. Ran it as admin. Switched off desktop discomposition. Lowered the graphic quality as well as the resolution. Nothing seems to work.

I reckon it has to either be an incompatibility with my video card or something to do with the Phsyx drivers. Anybody else having this issue?
Have you tried turning the grass off (totally off, that is)
Hmm, haven't tried that yet. I'll try it quickly.

I also discovered there's a twoworlds.radeon exe, and the problem is much better when running it with that exe. It's still there, and very noticable, though. What's odd is that character animations during cutscenes and when talking to NPCs are perfectly normal.

I think (not certain) that to turn the grass completely off, one needs the Two Worlds Control Panel, a third-party configuration tool for Two Worlds. Just google it and you should be able to find it. It might also allow for some other tweaks which might help fix the problem.

Yep, think you're right re the control panel.
Turning the grass off helped nothing, unfortunately. I'm not sure what the issue really is, because the only place I've seen a similar issue is on the Xbox version, not on PC. It's really annoying, because it more or less makes the game unplayable for me, seeing as it actually starts hurting my eyes if I have to look at the way characters frameskip for extended periods of time.
So is the rest of the game performing fine, just the character movement. There were some general performance problems discussed here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/two_worlds/horrible_performance_unplayable which codagh managed to resolve by himself. You could try his solution (see near to last post in thread).
Do you Regularly Defrag your hard drive?

Best defrag program IMHO is Defraggler
