Does anyone had the same problem? Known how to solve?

apparently I have very basic slow video card - and I have this problem - even though I am playing the Steam version of this game (but I don't see the reason it would be different from gog) - try to play with the modes in the initial screen where you are offered to choose the resolution - lowering the resolution to 1024x768, playing in windowed mode and with Medium graphics quality, things are much better for me.
