The moment I began a game in Tropico 4, I knew I was in for a grueling bugfix before I could even hope to play. Despite my computer's hardware, my game had started on the lowest settings. No anti-aliasing, textures that were little more than a smudge...
Unfortunately, the settings menu was quick to provide me with a pointless hurdle. Whenever I try to change a single setting in the graphics menu - the resolution, textures, lighting, gfx, whatever - my game window will minimize, and become an invisible, inaccessible tab with nothing in it. I'll call this a "crash", for simplicity, since it's effectively the same.
But it isn't just the graphics! Any setting, absolutely any change made in any part of the options menu, will have the same effect. I can't turn subtitles on, or my game will crash. Colourblind mode? Instant crash. The moment I hit that "OK" button, my game commits a quick and senseless suicide.
In this state, the game is unplayable. I'm desperate for anybody that can help me solve this problem.
Edit: Turns out that it's the simple act of clicking "OK" in the options menu. Whether I actually change the settings or not, it doesn't seem to have any effect
