I am running Mac OS Mojave 10.14.5 on a brand new iMac. As soon as I open the game I get to the Unreal Engine logo and then it pretty much instantly all flys off to the right of the screen and the app closes down.

Has anyone else had this problem? Having just had a quick read of the forums it looks like there were significant problems with Tropico 5 (I personally haven't had a version of this game since Tropico 3) that haven't been resolved so I am a bit concerned.

****EDIT: I just saw on another thread something that suggested it was to do with the leap year! Clearly on the island of Tropico they don't have the 366th day of the year!

I manually changed the date on my Mac to 28th Feb (System Preferences - Date and Time) and it works again!****

Same issue here on Windows 10. Changing the date fixed it! What a stupid problem to have.
Confirmed date change worked on my windows 10...Lost the whole am playtime on this!
Hi everybody,
thank you for reaching out and please be aware that this problem more or less fixed itself already starting with 1st March, as it was connected to the leap year, specifically the 29th February.
Therefore, simply start the game as always without any additional changes need to be made in advance.

Hi eric,
what does "same here" mean? The bug you have quoted was just related to the 29th Feburary, which is over for quite some days now. :)
If you might have encountered another problem, please provide more details in order to get you any possible help.

Thanks in advance.

-cheers
