I just bought Trine 2 and I enjoy the game, but although the game has a "Save game" I can't save anywhere mid-level. Does anybody else have that problem?

As far as I know, the save works like a quicksave. When the game crashes and you restart and resume, it'll start at the point you saved. When you regularly quit the game, this save will be overwritten, so that when you resume, the game continues at the point where you quit.

This function allows breaks, but not a collection of different savegames. But if you like, you can always simulate the latter by backing up the savegame file.

The problem is that I can't save. Only one save slot is acceptable, but the game only saves after you finish the level like it did in the original Trine. The "Save game" option is always greyed out and I can't save anywhere.
What happens, when you quit in mid-level and resume the game?

What you always can try, is a de- and re-installation. Make sure you install the game with administrator rights (right-click the setup file and select "Run as administrator") and don't install it into Program Files, but into a custom folder (like C:\Games\). Finally run the game as administrator (right-click the Trine2 icon) and see if it works.

When I quit in mid-level I start at the beginning. I install my games on D: partition. I'll try to install and run the game with admin rights and see if it works.
OK, I feel like an idiot right about now but I found the solution. It seems that hardcore mode was enabled and since the off and on colours are similar and didn't even notice. Thanks for the help anyway. It seems that I came done with a facepalm syndrome for a whie :D

At least it works, that's most important. Have fun!
