I had made it to the island with the big tree in search of the Pawn Shop that sells the Compass. Up to this point, I did all of the exploring that one could do in this game thus far. I went to the island on the far west, as far you can you go before there are rough waters that require you to have a Sail, and I've killed every baddie that has crossed me and collected every coin they dropped.

I made it to the Pawn Shop with an impressive 40 amount of gold coins and the shop keeper told me that I needed 75 gold coins. I got 40 because I went everywhere I could and killed everything and that isn't enough? They want to artificially inflate the game length by making me go back and brainlessly farm coins until I reach the absurdly high arbitrary amount?

I HOPE the guy who made this game reads this forum, this is to you. Learn to pace your game properly. It isn't fun to make people stop and grind to proceed to the next part. The game should've been play tested and designed so the cost of the Compass would be a reasonable amount the player should have at that point in the game.

I don't know if you did this out of ignorance, the game wasn't play-tested, or maybe you did it on purpose with the motive to artificially inflate the play time of your game, but it's stupid and I'm done with it.

I don't recall money being much of a problem in the game. There are LOTS of hidden treasure chests full of coins, so I think by that point I had nearly enough, if not more than enough money. There's at least 3, maybe 4 hidden treasure chests just on the first island that you ought to be able to get to with just the abilities you have now (1 in each of 3 different houses, and 1 in the cave). I never had to grind enemies for coins.
I'm with SCPM. Seriously, I hardly even pay any attention to coin gathering, aside from trying to poke into every nook and cranny (many of which are hidden), and of course making it a point to eliminate enemies throughout my travels whenever possible. I have yet to come up very short when I am finally called upon to part with some of my coins (which, so far, has been very few times.) Granted, my travels and exploration might be more casual or aimless or distracted than other players, perhaps, but I don't feel that the economy of the game is as far out of whack as N0Lif3 suggests.

Replying to this so other people aren't deterred by this comment.

Your problem is that you haven't found ANY of the hidden caches and secrets.
You are playing it wrong, man!
This is the game with plethora of secrets and you know the best part of it..? There is almost always a visual clue about them. The game even tells you about it at the certain stage. :)

This game is amazing, something I've been looking for ages since "Maze of Galious" and only have just found under my nose! :)

I'm about 45% into the game (as the game reports) and have not had any problems with money whatsoever!
It is just the right amount.
Yes, I cannot buy a certain expensive thing so far (no spoilers here), but trust me - you aren't supposed to buy it outright. ;)

So, you mister, missed A LOT, by de-installing the game. It is a rare gem. :)

Well this thread provided a good laugh. The first chest I opened contained 32 coins, somehow I don't think 75 coins is going to be hard to get. The fact that the OP found no chests whatsoever and thought grinding was necessary says more about them than it does the game.
