With the setup program set to joypad the movement controls are locked to the main analog stick. Tow can I manually change the movement controls to the d pad?

The game uses x and y axis on the controller. Many controllers allow to switch the axis with the d-pad.

Apart from that I don't think it's configurable in-game.
