The game runs at a terribly high frame rate (up to over 500). The actual gameplay doesn't seem to be affected, but this means that the computer's fans kick in and it heats up. It's a gaming rig with a GeForce RTX 2070, it that's relevant.

I have V-synch on, and have set the max frame rate to 60 in Nvidia Control Panel, but although that usually works on other games, it doesn't seem to do anything here.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did you try to edit the settings in config/GameStatus.xml manually?

Thank you for your reply. I took your advice, and set the framerate there to 60, but that didn't affect the framerate in game. I also tried 30.

I edited the refresh rate; is there something else I should be changing?
You are right. Even when only sitting on the main menu the FPS is 120, and after
starting to play the rate goes through the roof & is extremely volatile.

Changing the parameter in the xml file does have no effect.

But I could decrease the FPS to 30 - 40 by using dgvoodoo2.
You just need to copy D3D8.dll, D3DImm.dll, DDraw.dll, dgVoodooCpl.exe and
dgVoodoo.conf to the game's root folder.
With dgVoodooCpl.exe you can adjust your settings.

That worked! I followed your instructions and the game is running at a smooth 55 fps.

Thank you very much!
