Should I worry at all when some of my heroes die in battle or there are no consequences? Like worse/smaller loot or something?

I am new to the game (and CRPG) - but as far as I can see, as long as one unit survives the battle - all the inactive (dead) ones also survive.

Yes I know that. That's why I wonder if reward for winning battle might be somehow dependent on how many "died". But I think it's not.

I think you're right, as far as I can tell the loot is the same whether or not one or all of your team make it through the battle.
