I didn't see this linked anywhere else, which only means that I'm blind. And I'm probably blind from staring so long at the screen, trying to get TA to work.

And now it does work. Yippee!

Here's the goodness: http://www.tauniverse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42656

My original fault was blank screen at start-up. TA may have worked once inside a match, but I couldn't get to that point since the intro movie and menus were black-screened. Could hear the music, though, so I knew it was at least trying. Gave it the usual tweaks: admin mode, compatibility, registry, and some stuff mentioned in other threads. None worked. This patch did. Changed the gOg shortcut to instead go to the new executable. I do have to run the new one in admin mode but that setting is "one and done".

I have not tested this patch beyond about 10 seconds to see if it would get me something onscreen, but I'll report back later once I get in some play time. If anyone else is struggling with graphics problems, you may as well give this patch a try.

Edit: Just played a full round, no problems.

This thread needs to be stickied.
yes thank you for sharing i have installed this patch and it is quite solid; once it is Full 4.0 release definitely need link for other people here
One problem I've found, and this may be just for my installation, is that choosing a different starting player position other than the very top position has me playing 'in the dark'. Normally, when you start a round the screen is centered on your commander and you can actually see what is going on. If I turn that first player into an AI position and choose, for instance, the third player position, the mini-map shows that the screen is centered on my commander but the fog of war acts as if I'm still playing the first position - I can see what the first-position commander is doing but not what my own commander is doing.

I'll take a peek further into the TAUniverse thread a bit later on and see if anyone has that problem.
Need tp press enter and the command +viewplayer for the player slot you are in they go from 0 - 7.
Eg: If you are in slot 3 try enter +viewplayer 2 and enter and it should light you up fine.... this is a well known issue with TA.
