We would love to play TA over our house's LAN network. Problem is, there is no dedicated LAN option so to say, so we tried using the TCP?IP connection to get started. Unfortunately, wether we leave the search box empty or use the host's IP adress for hosting/connecting, the game never shows up although the battle screen comes up for the host. While doing this we made sure there was no password, the game was "open", we had all added TA to the firewall/virus scan exception list, and we all used the GOG version of the game.
We proceded by trying to use Gameranger. Which works for exactly about half an hour each time we get a game going. After that time is up, the game crashes (or rather, we all lose our internet connection and gameranger goes berserk). Now we could of course all start rushing and be done in under half an hour, but the drawn out slugfests are way more amusing, no? ;)
We did not forward any specific port, and we all employ a clean install from gog with the Total Mayhem mod 7.06 slapped over every copy in identical fashion (by the way, I didn't find any mention that Total Mayhem doesn't play nice with mp, anyone know if that could be the problem?).
