Why is the custom soundtrack option so buggy? For example I assign certain tracks to building and battle, but if I play the music, it will repeat the same building track and will not switch unless it is forcefully done by switching to a battle track and then back to building.

The only alternative I can think of is using my actual game CD to play the music whilst ingame but I can't get it to play the soundtrack, any ideas?

I was disappointed because of that reason :( It did't work like CD verson.
And 6 additional units don't exist.

I suffer from the same thing. I had to correctly assign the tracks to "building" and "battle", yet, when using "custom" as my music option, I just get the same track playing over and over again. Is there a way around this? Thanks
No. I told the support about it months ago and they replied it's part of the hard-coding. I think my CD-version just stopped playing a track in the 90s. Rarely it switches to a wrong track, too.

In my opinion the workarounds are: hacking the game or buying the copyrights.

Weak solution: turn the music volume down.

So bad then! I remember playing this in the past, and the dynamic music really made the game feel even better. Thanks for you response.
