I came to the forum to see if anyone is having major issues with Total Annihilation Kingdoms before buying the game. I noticed that alot of the postings only refer to TA, Total Annihilation, or I purchased this game.

Has anyone had or know of someone that has had significant issues with Total Annihilation Kingdoms? Are there any issues that require an unofficial community patch or are game breaking? I know the game is not that expensive, but would like to avoid buying games that have known notable issues.

I am running windows 7 with an nvidia graphics card.

I don't know about functionality? But i have been considering buying the game for some time..... I have played the game many years ago, its great, i have never played it again since!

How can i say a game is great and yet never play it anymore? Well, you know how with those great games, every now and then you 'feel the call' to play it again,,, with this game, not so much, dunno why?

I agree, certain games you play once and enjoyed it, but know that you will never play it again. I did find a game that I played on and off for years. The game was Civilization 4 Beyond the Sword. I only stopped playing it, after many years, because it does not work on windows 7.
Slightly off topic I realize but I just wanted to mention that I have civ 4 beyond the sword and it works great on my win7 laptop so I wouldn't give up on it. I don't have any fan patches or anything just the complete civ4 game out of the box. So you might want to try messing around with since it should work.
Maybe a little bit late but I can say that I never had any problems with the GOG version of Kingdoms. I'm using Windows 7, too.

The campaign is pretty good by the way (and very, very long, nearly 50 missions). The levels have a great variety of objectives and gameplay elements. What may puzzle you at first is that you are constantly switching between the factions (in Mission 5 you are Aramon, in Mission 6 Zhon, 7 Veruna, 8 Aramon, 9 Taros, 10 Veruna,...). But I never played online. So I can not tell you anything about that.

By the way: You will not see the original intro, if you install the complete edition, only the opening for the expansion.
TO echo Smooth17, I have had no problems playing on Win7 either. Its a strictly linear campaign but the perspective changes regularly. In other words there is one story, but four people (factions) telling it and you switch between the factions regularly.
Some of the unit animations are a little bit clunky compared to modern stuff, but at the time they were cutting edge (and slow on our 486!)
There are community patches available, but I've not used them so cant comment. If you wish to try them then available here
