Hey all,

I'm having a problem with losing saved games in the campaign mode. I'll save my game, and the save file will show up while I'm in the game, but when I exit the program and come back the save file has disappeared. My entire campaign also disappears and I have to reenter a new name each time I play, which seems like it might be part of the problem.

I would try reinstalling the game as that does not sound right at all. Your profile should save in the campaign and remain in the list - storing your progress for each of the two story lines. That you are losing your saves means something is wrong with your setup.

If a reinstall isn't working I'd check your virus scanning software to make sure its not flagging the game as a false positive when it tries to save (and thus deleting the save files as they are made/just after)
Tick the 'Run as Admin' on the game shortcut and then start a new campaign, that sould be enough to stop the saves from being redirected to the VirtualStore folder, which is probably where your saves are being stored.

In case you want to check if your old saves are there go to,

C:\Users\<your_username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramFiles(x86)\GOG.com\Total Anihilation

The AppData folder may be hidden by default. If so, go into folder options and tick the checkbox for 'show hidden files, folders and drives'

This is for Win7 and Vista, if you are on XP none of this applies and in that case the problem lies elsewhere.
Thanks guys, I'll give those solutions a try. One more bit of strangeness: If I manually enter the same campaign name my progress and saved games are restored.
Hey,

Been having this problem as well, figured out that if you manually renter the EXACT same name you use for you profile, it will load the profile you made under that name, including the save files.

Namur's post seems right, I haven't tried it yet since I was playing it by just reentering my profile name.
