Try opening the TAK installation folder and setting both ChooseRenderer.exe and Kingdoms.exe to:
- Disable fullscreen optimizations
- Run this program as an administrator
- Compatibility mode: run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2
*you do this by right clicking the .exe files and clicking Properties then Compatibility tab then Change Settings for all users

After that run ChooseRenderer.exe and choose one of the options it shows you there.
After that try running Kingdoms.exe
If it does not look proper or is laggy try changing your choice in ChooseRenderer.exe

If you have a 2nd monitor that might be causing some issues i think.
