I got this response from a GOG staff member after submitting a problem I was having getting the game to work:

"Mac OS X 10.9 is not supported in Total Annihilation: Commander Pack. OS X 10.9 was released after the game's initial GOG release, and we weren't able to make the game work reliably on the new system. Because of this the system requirements list OS X 10.9 as not compatible."

I know that a bunch of us have been scratching our heads about why we haven't been able to get the game to work. Well, I guess we have our answer. :(

I really hope they decide to support it. I'm very bummed out about this.
Ah, perhaps this is why whenever I try to open the game, it tells me:

"Total Annihilation Commander Pack" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

I thought maybe the download was corrupt so I downloaded it again. Same error. I really hope this gets solved. When this game went on sale, I had to grab it because I loved this game when it came out. I was really excited to play it again.

If you still have the issue with the new installer then check the Support articles for Total Annihilation. There are posted workarounds.
I hope this latest update actually works. I'm just running the windows one in wine. The mac installer was a complete mess last time I tried it. I contacted support and gave a suggestion on how to make a new wrapper but I don't think the person I contacted understood what I was saying...

If it doesn't work, please don't hesitate to write to us again :) We'll do our best to make it work as advertised :)

OK. I'll try. I generally find gog support to be super amazingly good (details to be explained in forums). I just think that there may have been a communication issue.
Awesome. Apparently the TA Mac app updated since I posted my original response. The new update works (after downloading some stuff for Wine, apparently).

Related question: The stuff that wine downloaded (mono and gecko, I believe). Where where those files put on my file system?
Hmm I still don't seem to be able to get it to work properly.

I can get it to load now but it has major flickering issues. :(
What did people do to get it to work?

That's what I did to get it working for me.
Pretty incredible the amount of attention this gets.
