I just installed the game and there's no AI units showing on any map when I start a game up. Does anyone have a solution?

Launch the game, click Single on the lower left of the screen. Then Skirmish on the right of the screen. Now, on the left of the screen just below where it says player should be several buttons that say Open. Click those to add Computer AI players. Enjoy.

I have done this, the map doesnt populate the Computer players.

Did you install an AI mod or are you playing vanilla? If vanilla have you tried re-downloading the installer and reinstalling?

I have also noticed that the vanilla AI doesn't always start creating units, or even building a base at all.
You could check out an AI pack, those are guaranteed to be good (and, if they have been updated in the past few years, they'll also work).
