Hey!
Just made my first purchase on GoG: TA Commander Pack. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to buy it. I just completed the first few ARM missions and all the nostalgia came flowing back. The game looks awesome on a high resolution, and the graphics really stand up well compared to so many other games from the era. I've always preferred TA to SC, which I bought not long after release and stopped playing after a week or so. Yeah it's epic, but I think they concentrated too much on the scope of the game instead of the substance, and in the end it just felt pretty hollow. Mind you, a lot of over-hyped sequels follow this trend...
Anyway, I read some of the threads in this sub-forum and remembered the TA bugfix patch which fixed *loads* of stuff and added in Cavedog's new units, so I installed that and the game loaded up fine so I look forward to playing some more of the campaign.
Glad that the forums here are active and useful, and GoG seems a really cool site; lots of memories came back whilst scrolling through the games on offer, and I thought $5.99 (about £3.70 for me) was superb value for the Commander Pack. God knows how many hours I must have put into this game back in the day.
The only thing that disappointed me was some of the reviews for Interstate '76 Arsenal - I *really* wanted to buy it as well, but a lot of the reviews seemed to indicate that the x64 port was pretty poor and it kept crashing, so I thought I'd give it a miss for now.
Interstate '76 and MechWarrior 2 - can anyone remember when Activision used to make great games? I feel so old.
xD
